Negative Covid Tests Are Too Far!!

Is there anything about Covid that hasn't become absolutely political? Is there anything-anything at all-that can be said on the subject that is not going to draw outrage from someone?

If you say you're getting vaccinated, someone is going to call you a sheep. If you say you won't, someone will accuse you of not caring about other people's lives. If you own a business, people will be mad at you for enforcing a mask policy, but if you don't require masks the other group of people will be mad at you. There really doesn't seem to be any way to win. It's sad and it's also part of what makes all of this confusing. Any attempt to have a real conversation about Covid, the vaccines, or Covid precautions is met with vitriol. How are you supposed to make a real decision about your health when just trying to ask questions or express a viewpoint about any of the information you are given immediately makes you an enemy to so many people?

Covid has hit several family members recently, so a lot of this has been on my mind lately. And on Facebook I saw a picture posted on Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo's page. It was two negative Covid tests. It is ridiculous that there was backlash to that. That is absolutely absurd. Let's review some of the comments.

Jimmy C. wrote, "Sorry but please keep personal life choices and such to private. We the public/fans don't need to know personal life choices. That is my suggestion for all."

Well, Jimmy, how is it a personal choice to have Covid or not have Covid? Is that how it works? Do viruses just go around asking people if they would like to participate and move on if they say they're not interested?

David A. wrote, "Keep your medical record in your medical record Pat Benatar & Neil Geraldo are you looking for a position on the high moral ground. Well let me tell you there isn't one. Luddites like you posting this stupidity not only shows a lack of social sensitivity but also a lack of common sense."

Well, foks, there you have it! It's stupid to not have Covid and then tell anyone that your test was negative.

I replied to David by saying that it is their choice what they choose to share. His response was "It is part of a narrative you fool. No one is interested. It's creating more division in our community. Musicians should know better."

It really amazes me how many people going around calling people sheep or idiots or fools and then claim that they're super duper concerned about division. Yeah. Can't have that! Also, he seems pretty opinionated on this topic for someone who claims that no one is.

Cindy M. wrote, "I would rather not know a person's political affiliations or if they are inoculated or not."

Show of hands. How many people think this person just announced that they're a Republican? Her statements aside, there should be nothing political about posting that you had a negative result from a Covid test. Nothing at all.

Cindy S. wrote, "What happened to dr patients confidential information"

I can't even tell if that's a serious question.

But the point is this. Covid has made uncontroversial things-like telling someone you're not sick-controversial. And heaven forbid you have a negative opinion about the CDC.

People have a right to respond to anything you post and I think that open discussion is important, but it's ridiculous that every single little thing you could possibly say about Covid is met with backlash, hatred, vitriol. Anything you say is a political statement or supposedly an endorsement of politicians you might not actually agree with. I really wish that would change.
